Frequently Asked Questions

Why are people referred to Physiotherapy ?

Chartered Physiotherapists treat many problems to do with muscles, joints, ligaments, bones, tendons and post surgery. They can also help with chronic conditions and provide education on preventing injuries. People suffering from back pain, neck pain, shoulder or knee injuries, sciatica and whiplash, as well as a host of other conditions, are often referred to physios.

What happens at my first visit to able?

We want to understand your condition and will start by taking a history of your problem together with any relevant medical history. Details of previous treatments, related injuries and information about your daily activities may also be taken.

A thorough biomechanical examination and assessment will then be carried out to determine the clinical diagnosis of your problem.

Following this, we will discuss your treatment options and advise you on the most appropriate course of treatment. You can expect to be given an individually tailored home exercise program, lifestyle advice and an indication of the number of treatments you may require and the likely timescale for resolution of the problem.

Follow up appointments will then be made.

What should I wear to my first visit?

Please wear clothing you are comfortable in that will allow us to examine the affected area. If we need to examine your hip or leg, you may prefer to bring shorts with you.

Does my Health Insurance Cover Physiotherapy?

If you have health insurance you should contact your provider initially to check how to proceed. We are registered and accredited by all major insurance companies including BUPAAXA-PPPWPAPru HealthAVIVACIGNA and are an accredited Nuffield Health Clinic
